Teaching Philosophy
I am a teacher who works with my students to understand their needs. I believe in creating a space where students can explore different worlds and examine human nature. It is my job to provide opportunities for my students to create theatre that is relevant to them and their communities.
I not only want to educate but also to foster a community—a home—for students who need one. Students should have autonomy in their education, and I want to provide them with the opportunity to teach me. I am a teacher who wants to shape my lessons and teaching style to best fit my students' abilities. I value opinions and reflect on critiques to improve myself and better support future students as theatre-makers.
Theatre education should be accessible to all, regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status. Theatre is about creating art when there seems to be no joy. Theatre is about growth and learning from mistakes. Theatre is my passion, and teaching is how I share it.
